Aqua aerobics is the performance of aerobic exercise in a pool. It is a type of resistance training that is low impact and easy on the joints. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music. The heart is working just as hard as with land aerobics and underwater exercise actually pumps more blood to the heart. Exercising in the water is not only aerobic, but also strength-training due to the water resistance. Moving your body through the water creates a resistance that will activate all muscle groups. Aqua aerobics is in a group fitness class setting with a trained professional teacher.
Currently, Aqua Aerobics classes are offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. Registration opens at dublinrecguide.com on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. for classes that are scheduled to begin nine (9) days later. Class size is currently limited to 19 participants. The price is $8 for residents, and $10 for non-residents.
Instructor: Chris Petit
*Aqua Aerobics classes are held year-round in the Sports Pool, kept at a comfortable 82-84 degrees.
